SWM Australia release the RS 650R into the dual-sport/adventure market

The resurgence of iconic Italian motorcycle brand SWM in Australia begins with the release of the RS 650R. The capable machine is bound to appeal to the ever-growing adventure bike market dominated by riders searching for a dual-sport machine with real dirt bike heritage.

“The dual-sport end of the adventure bike market is burning bright right now and the RS 650R will fit in nicely at a very competitive price point,” states SWM brand manager Stephen Tuff.

“SWM has proven pedigree. The SWM factory in Biandronno, Italy is the former Husqvarna factory where SWM CEO, Ampelio Macchi was chief engineer. The SWM RS 650R is based on the Husqvarna TE630. Mr Macchi knows this is a great platform to build an exceptional dual-purpose bike because he built it.”

Equipped with quality components such as Brembo brakes, GET ignition and Mikuni throttle body feeding the 600cc liquid-cooled engine that drives a 6-speed transmission, the RS 650R is quite the performer. The ample power on tap is supported by a Sachs shock and Marzocchi fork providing a comfortable ride both on and off-road.

“The Husqvarna heritage on this SWM RS 650R is a great thing,” Tuff announced. “Not only are there plenty of old TE630 fans out there looking to update to a similar machine, there’s already a number of quality accessories available for this bike including a 25-litre Safari Tank, bash plates from B&B Off-Road and Force Accessories, and mufflers from Barrett Exhaust.”

The SWM RS 650R tips the scales at 144kg and with a DOHC engine that can pump out strong, usable power you have a bike capable of munching through endless miles of adventure. Whether it’s the bucket-list ride around Australia or weekend escapes to running back and forwards to work, the RS 650R is the perfect multi-purpose machine.
